The Lake Geneva region includes hilly areas of the Jura, most of Lake Geneva and the Vaud Alps. In between are flat areas with large castles, numerous vineyards of national importance, cornfields and medieval villages

The most important cities in the Lake Geneva region include Lausanne, Montreux, Nyon and Morges. Lausanne, picturesquely built on three hills, is the seat of the International Olympic Committee. Villars-sur-Ollon is a resort at 1300 m.a.s.l. in the Vaud Alps. On a terrace at 1200 m.a.s.l., Leysin is situated above the lower Rhone valley near Aigle. Besides cycling and skiing, the resort also offers beautiful views, for example of Mont Blanc.
