The Bellinzona Fortress includes the three castles Castelgrande, Montebello, and Sasso Corbaro. They stand impressively with ring walls and fortifications above Bellinzona's old town. They once controlled important north-south Alpine passes. Today you can stroll on walls and towers, visit museums and exhibitions, and enjoy panoramic views over the city, valleys, and surrounding mountains. Since 2000, the fortress has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
