Melide is a municipality in the Lugano district in the canton of Ticino. The village lies on the southern shore of Lake Lugano, right at the foot of Monte San Salvatore. The compact settlement stretches between the lakeside, hillside slopes, and the dam connection to Bissone, which carries both the main traffic route and the railway and motorway connections. Melide is part of the Lugano holiday region, offering a lakeside promenade, a public lido, and various water and hillside recreational activities. It is especially known for Swissminiatur, an open-air park featuring detailed miniature models of notable Swiss buildings and landscapes.
