Bungeesurf Beginner Courses in Bern

In the Bungeesurfing course, you learn how to glide safely over the river using a bungee cord and a surfboard. After a theoretical introduction, you initially practice the key movements and safety rules on land.

In the accompanying practical part, you actively spend about two-thirds of the course time on the water. Between surf attempts, you can rest, receive feedback, and analyze your runs with photos.

The safety standards are high, and wearing a life jacket is mandatory throughout the course. Surfboards, life jackets, and neoprene suits (at an additional cost) are provided. However, you are also welcome to bring your own equipment.

Practical information:

• Recommended arrival by public transportation: bus line 21 from Bern train station, 15 minutes plus a 5-minute walk
• Arrival by car: there are no parking spaces in front of the power plant. The nearest parking lot is Spital Tiefenau, approximately 20-minute walk away

Bungee surfing is a water sport where you glide over a river on a surfboard attached to an elastic rope. The rope is anchored to a bridge or a tree at a certain height. You hold onto a handle and let the river current carry you, causing the rope to stretch.

Once the rope is taut, it pulls you forward quickly and accelerates you on the board. You usually start kneeling and then stand up to surf. The combination of the river current and the elastic rope provides a dynamic surfing experience with speed and control.

Bungee surfing combines river flow with the elastic tension of the rope, allowing you to glide on the surfboard and gain speed. It requires balance and timing to steer the board safely and make the most of the tension.
