4 Highlights First Cliff Walk by Tissot
- A narrow and dizzying walkway runs right along the rock face.
- The viewpoint extends 45 meters out over the abyss.
- The walk is a special thrill for those without a fear of heights.
- The view directly overlooks the Eiger and Jungfrau (the Monch is obscured by the Eiger), which are very close by.
The Grindelwald First is a ridge situated north of Grindelwald. It's also known as the “Top of Adventure.” The upper station of the First cable car is at 2,167 m above sea level and is also called First. Right nearby, you'll find the First Cliff Walk by Tissot.
Summit Attraction First Cliff Walk by Tissot
The First Cliff Walk by Tissot starts with the rocky path. It initially runs along the west side of the mountain house and the First summit, following a steep rock face. The ascent takes visitors up to the First sun terrace. Here, you’ll find a 45-meter long walkway that seems to lead into thin air. On a clear day, you might have to wait a bit to snap a photo right at the front of the walkway.
From this viewpoint, the view of the surrounding mountains is particularly stunning. The Eiger and Jungfrau rise majestically in the heart of the Jungfrau region. You can't see the Mönch from this angle, as it's obscured by the Eiger.
On a good visibility day, you can also spot the Grosse and Kleine Scheidegg as well as the Schreckhorn. Down in the valley, you can see Grindelwald.
How do you reach the First Cliff Walk?
The First Cliff Walk starts right at the summit station of the cable car (2,167 m above sea level). You can reach the station in about 25 minutes from Grindelwald via the cable car, which operates in three sections. During the ride, you can already enjoy a magnificent view of the mountain peaks in the Jungfrau region.

The First Cliff Walk is suitable for those who are not afraid of heights. It is also appropriate for school-age children if accompanied by an adult.
