The hike takes about 30 minutes.

Longer Hike at the Suspension Bridge

A hike from Sigriswil to Oberhofen a.T. starts at the Sigriswil bus stop. It goes over the suspension bridge to Aeschlen. The further path to Oberhofen at Lake Thun begins just above the lake and leads you down to the bus stop. This hike is great for birdwatching.

This hike can also be done as a loop. In this case, the return path takes you almost directly along the shore of Lake Thun to Gunten. From Gunten, you’ll head back up.

A hike from Merligen also goes along Lake Thun to Gunten and takes about 1.5 hours to Sigriswil.

The Sigriswil Suspension Bridge is open year-round and serves as a shortcut for schoolchildren. It connects the towns of Sigriswil and Aeschlen. The best time to visit is from March to November, but the bridge is accessible all year round.

Adults pay 8.00 CHF, or 4.00 CHF with the Thunersee Panoramacard. Children under 16 get in for free. All proceeds go towards the maintenance of the bridge.

To get there by public transport, take the bus line 25 from Thun station or from Gunten to Sigriswil. You can also reach Gunten by boat, making it an even more interesting family excursion.

The post bus takes about 9 minutes from Gunten. From the bus stop “Sigriswil Dorf,” it’s only a two-minute walk to the panoramic bridge at Raftstrasse. To reach Aeschlen, take bus 21 to Oberhofen, then transfer to line 24. Get off at the “Erliboden” stop in Aeschlen.
