About this place

Since 2010, the m.a.x. Museum has belonged to the Centro Culturale Chiasso, has been a member, as a municipal museum, of ICOM (International Council of Museums) and, since 2020, also of the MAM Network, Mendrisiotto Art Museums. The aim of the m.a.x. museo is to promote knowledge of graphics, design, photography and contemporary visual communication, serving as a bridge between the past and new generations of graphic designers. Next to the museum is the Spazio Officina (Werkstatt-Raum), which is connected to the m.a.x. museo and, like the museum, has close ties to the area: from exhibitions to congresses, from performances to lectures, the Spazio Officina offers a varied programme. m.a.x. museo, Spazio Officina, Cinema Teatro, CIAG, Centro Internazionale d'Arte e Grafica and the library form the important Chiasso cultural centre. On 3 April 2019, the Centro Culturale Chiasso received the Doron Award for its “outstanding cultural offering”.
