“It was a great insight into the world of chocolate, and the kids really enjoyed creating their own chocolate.”

Heiden
Heiden is a village in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, situated on a scenic terrace overlooking Lake Constance. Most houses in the village centre date back to the 19th century, following a major fire that largely destroyed the village in 1838. Landmark buildings like the Protestant church and several rows of neoclassical houses give the village a cohesive appearance. Known as a spa town, Heiden enjoys a mild, pleasant climate thanks to its elevated position. Walking and hiking trails lead from the village terrace to viewpoints offering panoramic views over the lake and the Appenzell region. The Hotel Heiden, with its wellness area, is one of the key tourist facilities in the village (Photo: Switzerland Tourism / Hannes Heinzer).
