“It was exciting and the staff were really friendly.”

Vitznau
Vitznau lies between the southern slope of the Rigi and Lake Lucerne. The area is also known as the Lucerne Riviera. The lakeside village lies at 435 m above sea level and is connected to the Rigi by cogwheel railroad and aerial cableway. The cogwheel railroad takes around 35 minutes via various stops to Rigi Kulm at 1752 m above sea level. The small aerial cableway takes visitors from Vitznau to the Wissifluh mountain restaurant. Vitznau can be easily reached by boat through a small sheltered bay. Round trips from Lucerne across Lake Lucerne followed by a trip up the mountain are very popular. Worth seeing in Vitznau is the artillery fortress built during the Second World War, which is now both a museum and a hotel. Even the casemates and tunnels can be visited.
