How to read the fog map
Places in fog or high fog are white, places in the sun yellow. The summits that rise above the fog are listed under “Above the clouds” with their heights.
Choose the day, then the hour with the slider. The fog boundary is the height the high fog reaches. It is an estimate, based on the places forecast to be in fog and those in the sun.
High fog forms in autumn and winter, when cold air collects over the Swiss Plateau with warmer air above it. It often clears around midday, but when the bise, a cold north-easterly wind, is blowing, it can last all day.
