Vira is a part of the municipality of Gambarogno. The village is located in Ticino on the northeastern shore of Lake Maggiore. Behind the village stretches the 1738 m high mountain Gambarogno. A path winds up the mountain from Vira to the mountain pass Alpe du Neggia. The pass is located at 1395 m above sea level and continues to the Veddasca Valley. This is already because of the indescribably beautiful view a great destination for hiking and mountain bike tours. The entire region enchants with charming lakeside promenades, Mediterranean flair, camellia and magnolia blossoms and panoramic views over the lake and mountains.
