The city of Locarno is located on the northern shore of Lake Maggiore and the Maggia Delta. The warmest city in Switzerland is known for the Città Vecchia, the old town with cafes, boutiques and stately homes. The narrow streets all lead to the Piazza Grande. Concerts, the Locarno Film Festival and other cultural events are held here. The district of Locarno lies in a horseshoe shape around the Maggia Valley. It is bordered by Monte Tamaro to the south on the border with Lugano. The right arc lies between Poncione Piancascia, Cima di Bri and Cima dell'' Uomo. Locarno is located in the south of Switzerland on Lake Maggiore. Among the most important destinations are the Madonna del Sasso, the Piazza Grande, the Falcon Park, the Lido Locarno, the Pinacoteca Comunale Casa Rusca and the Magadino Plain. In addition, the pretty town of Ascona is only a few minutes away from Locarno. Other popular destinations are the valleys Valle Maggia and Valle Verzasca
