Stanserhornbahn Ticket Information
The Stanserhorn Railway runs from April to November up to the Stanserhorn and takes nearly 25 minutes.
- Valley station: Stans (450 m above sea level)
- Middle station: Kälti (714 m above sea level)
- Mountain station: Stanserhorn (1850 m above sea level)
A stop at the former Bluematt station can be made on request. If you want to board here after a hike, simply lift the receiver at Bluematt and you will be connected to the station in Kälti.
At the summit, there is a revolving restaurant designed in the shape of a star.

Swiss Activities Tip
The Stanserhorn offers a very scenic summit walk. It takes about 30 minutes, and along the way you will encounter a marmot enclosure. The trail begins at the mountain restaurant and initially leads to the Adlerfluh. From here, you have a great view far into the Obwalden region and towards the Brünig. During the walk, you will quickly meet rangers. They can explain nature or identify the names of the surrounding mountains if you wish. The path gradually ascends to the summit, which offers an incredible view. You can see up to 100 km of the Alpine range and ten lakes.
The Stanserhorn is also very popular as a starting point for kite and paragliding pilots. Since the 1970s, the Deltaclub Stans has been active here.
Important Information
- Please check the timetables on the day of travel
- On particularly busy days, you might need a boarding pass as a timeslot for the return journey from Stanserhorn.
- In this case, you'll be informed during the ascent and will receive the boarding pass at the counter on-site.

A really great experience trip. Everything was well organized. Just two small notes: At the Stanserhorn summit, you have to book a timeslot for the return trip. We weren't told this at the valley station. When we arrived at the top, the staff wasn’t there yet... So we were lucky that we only had to wait 35 minutes. Another problem arose because my ticket and my wife's were swapped when the tickets were issued, and the tickets were assigned to the other person's name. This caused some unrest at the valley station. This should be fixed technically.
