St. Gallen Christmas Market 2026

From 26 November to 24 December 2026 the Sternenmarkt, St. Gallen's Christmas market, stands on Gallusplatz next to the UNESCO Abbey District. The wooden huts are open Mon–Fri 11:00–19:00 and Sat/Sun 11:00–18:00, the mulled wine and food stalls at the Vadian monument for longer, until 22:00 on Thursdays. In addition, over 600 stars shine above the old town in a specially designed light choreography. On Saturdays 28 November and 5 December the Christkindlimarkt is added.

On Gallusplatz by the Abbey District stand more than two dozen wooden huts with handmade goods, Christmas decorations and food. Mulled wine and food stalls are also at the Vadian monument on Marktplatz, open there until 21:00 on most evenings, on Thursdays until 22:00. Above the lanes shine the stars of the Sternenstadt.

Gallusplatz and old-town lanes
The Christkindlimarkt adds to the Sternenmarkt on two Saturdays, 28 November and 5 December, from 10:00 to 17:00 each day. Its stalls stand near Gallusplatz and in the lanes of the old town.

Shorter hours on 24 December
On Christmas Eve all the stalls are open only from 11:00 to 16:00.
