Avegno Gordevio
Avegno is located in the lower Maggia Valley. It is located only 8 km from Locarno at the foot of the Pizzo di Trosa (1866 m above sea level). The village was founded in the 16th century and is known for its picturesque stone houses and romantic location on the Maggia River. A beautiful church, many chapels and fountains characterise the village. A tour of the village is signposted and explains the history of Avegno's origins.
