Highlights
  • Explore the mechanics of a classic Unitas pocket watch movement
  • Follow the dismantling of the movement step by step
  • Reassemble the open pocket watch movement together
  • Watch the mechanical movement tick again at the end
  • Combine knowledge, craftsmanship, and teamwork in the studio
Description

You’ll start with an introduction to the history of the watch industry and the development of the Zurich manufactory. Experienced watchmakers then explain how a mechanical watch works and why it ticks. The classic Unitas pocket watch movement is about ten times larger than a standard movement.

Wearing watchmaker clothing and using a magnifying glass, you’ll work directly on the open movement. You’ll follow the step-by-step dismantling and get to know the individual components. Afterwards, you’ll reassemble the movement with the group until it ticks reliably again.
