Wildhaus - Alt. St. Johann

The municipality Wildhaus - Alt St. Johann is a merged municipality in Toggenburg. It is located at 895 m above sea level and lies northeast of Lake Walen. Wildhaus - Alt St. Johann is known for the valley station of the Sellamatt cable car. The valley station of the mountain railroad to Iltios and the Churfirsten Chäserrugg is only 300 m away in the adjacent Unterwasser. Together with the villages of Wildhaus and Unterwasser, Alt St. Johann forms a vacation area in Toggenburg, which has been awarded the "Families Welcome" seal of quality. In summer a popular starting point for hiking, in winter it opens up the skiing area Chäserrugg - Unterwasser/Alt St. Johann. Here, at 900 to 2262 m above sea level, there are 50 km of ski slopes and a 6 km long toboggan run.
