If you book a day trip, you only have to take care of your ticket and arrive on time at the boarding point. Everything else is taken care of by the organizers. Other costs such as mountain railroads, entrance fees or even a small meal, everything that belongs to the excursion, is already paid. You don't have to make any reservations either. Particularly pleasant are day trips to areas that can be reached by public transport only with several changes.
