Monte Generoso cog railroad ticket

On the southern edge of the Alps rises the striking Monte Generoso with its "Fiore di pietra" structure designed by world-famous architect Mario Botta. The cogwheel railroad, which has been in operation for over 130 years, takes you from Capolago on Lake Lugano over a 9 km route to the 1704-metre-high summit.

• Guide dogs for the blind travel free of charge

Discover the nature trail, the coal pile route or the planet trail. The planet trail is like a "walk through the stars". The 600-metre-long path presents a planetary model of our solar system on a scale of 1:10 billion. The trail is also suitable for families with baby carriages.

You can combine your visit to Monte Generoso with a boat trip on Lake Lugano. A scheduled boat service runs once a day from Lugano to Capolago.

Individual travelers:

• Information at least 2 working days in advance to Ferrovia Monte Generoso
• 60 cm wide, not electric
• Access possible from Capolago station and Vetta (summit)
• Assistance from train staff when boarding and alighting

Groups of 3 or more wheelchairs:

• Information at least 2 weeks in advance to Ferrovia Monte Generoso
• Specially converted carriage will be attached for groups of 3 or more wheelchairs
• Wheelchairs up to 78 cm wide
• Space in the carriage for 8 wheelchairs and seats for 4 companions.

• 500 m path is easily passable (asphalted)
• Lift to Fiore di pietra
• Restaurant incl. toilet and viewing terrace is wheelchair accessible
