About this place

Casa Tomé is one of the oldest and best-preserved farmhouses in the Alpine region. The origins of the house date back to the Middle Ages (around 1350). Despite its agricultural use, the house stands right in the centre of the village of Poschiavo. Until around 1990, the completely neglected Casa Tomé was inhabited by a strange family that shaped the fate of the house for almost a century. Casa Tomé is a rare witness to a peasant culture and a way of life that are now outdated. It has largely remained in its original state, as there were no major changes inside or outside for centuries. Since 1993, the house has been listed as a protected monument.
