Museo Poschiavino
About this place
The valley museum has two sites in Poschiavo: the baroque Palazzo de Bassus-Mengotti and Casa Tomé, a farmhouse from the Middle Ages. The two buildings show different aspects of the local past. On one side stands the grand house, built in 1655 and extended several times. Its rooms house folklore collections and temporary exhibitions. Precious Etruscan and Indian collections belonging to the municipality of Poschiavo are also on display. M13 the bear, which sparked nationwide debate about the presence of wild animals, also has its own ‘den’ again. In contrast to the seat of power, Casa Tomé is a building that has preserved its structure over centuries: the stable and barn, the kitchen blackened by soot and the rooms reflect peasant life over the last 700 years. As part of the ‘Vom Feld auf den Tisch’ offer, a place for learning about the rediscovery of traditional local food has been created here.
