AUTUMN IS CHÄSMÄRT TIME When the leaves turn golden, the scent of snow may already tickle your nose, and then the day still turns pleasantly late-summer warm, that’s Chäsmärt time. This year it takes place again on 4 October 2026. Once more in the village centre of Elm, in the streets and lanes of the village that received the Wakker Prize in 1981. The alpine farmers present their Glarus alpine cheese at many stalls, and each alp tastes slightly different. Soon you’ll notice the differences and pick your favourite cheese. Besides Glarus alpine cheese, there are also various other alpine cheeses such as Nidelchäs, Chrüter-Alpkäse etc. Your shopping bags fill up and you can enjoy the supporting programme around the Chäsmärt. The Schellner march in and fill the village with an impressive peal, and later the bells of the decorated cows also ring out as they pass through the village in an alpine descent.
