Tips from festival-goers
From forums and reports, checked by us and put in our own words. Every tip names its sources.
Pack a rain jacket and boots, and stretch a tarp over your tent and seating area, guyed down well. In violent thunderstorms, badly anchored tents and tarps blow away, as happened on the campsite in 2013.
On the Plaine de l’Asse, it quickly gets muddy when it rains, and thunderstorms often come unexpectedly.
At Paléo, sold out doesn’t mean it’s over: The official ticket exchange stays open until the end of the festival, and every day 1500 tickets for that same evening go on sale online. Only buy through paleo.ch, the Paléo Shop or Ticketcorner.
The tickets are gone within minutes, and fraud cases are piling up on resale platforms.
Even a single day ticket entitles you to camp for free on the campsite all week. The site opens at 12.00 the day before the festival (a Monday in 2026) and is stormed immediately, so arrive early.
With a single ticket you camp for free all week, and the site fills up on the very first day.
From Nyon station, take the little red NStCM train (departs behind the station, access through the underpass), free with a ticket on concert evenings, or walk the lit half-hour route. For the way back after the last concert on the Grande Scène, allow at least 30 minutes to get to the station.
After the main concert everyone wants to leave at the same time, and the shuttle can’t take everyone in one trip.
If you do come by car: Coming from Lausanne, take the Gland exit, because Nyon is often jammed. Or park in Nyon at the Perdtemps car park (free in the evening) and ride up on the free little train.
At rush hour you’re stuck in traffic for a long time on the motorway and in front of the festival car parks.
Paléo is also a food festival: Go to the stands early, before the long queues build up. Look out for the ‘Top 10 Paléo Selection’ label, which anonymous testers award to the best stands of the previous year.
The later in the evening, the longer the queues at the popular stands.
