Tips from festival-goers
From forums and reports, checked by us and put in our own words. Every tip names its sources.
Since 2026, camping is no longer included in the ticket: Book a camping voucher as well (up to four people, 12 m² in area C or D). Even so, if you arrive late you often end up right at the back of area D, a good quarter of an hour from the main stage.
Without a voucher you’re not allowed to sleep on the Allmend, and the spots near the stage go quickly.
Bring a gazebo: As soon as the sun beats down on your tent, it gets unbearably hot inside, and shade is rare on the Allmend. You can cool off at the signposted bathing spot on the Murg; swimming in the Thur is forbidden.
Once morning comes, a lie-in in the tent is impossible, and during the day there’s hardly any natural shade.
Pack a warm sleeping bag and a jumper despite the heat. Several female campers report that the nights on the Allmend get really cold.
After hot festival days, it cools down a lot at night, as several female campers have found.
Leave jewellery and unnecessary valuables at home, and don’t leave anything valuable in your tent. For your phone and wallet, you can book a locker with a PIN and a power socket online.
Every year the police report thefts from tents and of phones; sometimes necklaces are even torn from people’s necks.
Travel by train (20 percent off with a festival ticket) and take the free shuttle from Frauenfeld station, which runs continuously from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon. After the headliners, extra trains run towards Zürich, and with a bit of luck you’ll catch the shuttle with a DJ on board.
Parking costs up to CHF 45, and the shuttle stops right at the main entrance.
There’s loud music on the campsite until late and from early on: Earplugs and a sleep mask belong in your bag. If you really want to sleep, book the quieter Relaxed Camping (quiet hours 1.00 to 8.00) or, like some visitors, sleep at the Aumühle campsite, which is easy to reach on the Wil-Bähnli.
Neighbours party until late or wake you early with their speaker.
