Description

With the cable car, you can comfortably ride from Mörel up to the car-free Riederalp. You have two options to choose from: a large panoramic gondola to Riederalp Centre or smaller six-person cabins to Riederalp West.

To reach the viewpoint on Moosfluh, you take a cable car from Riederalp Centre. The modern combination cable car (six-seat cabins and eight-person cabins) takes you to the impressive Moosfluh at 2333 m above sea level with a direct view of the Great Aletsch Glacier.

Hohfluh can be visited in winter via a four-seat cable car (with weather protection covers) from Riederalp West (only in stable weather conditions). In summer, you can reach it on foot. The two viewpoints, Moosfluh and Hohfluh, are about two kilometres apart (as the crow flies). A scenic trail connects them and offers additional views along the way.

Moosfluh viewpoint

  • Unobstructed 360° view of the Great Aletsch Glacier as well as four-thousand-metre peaks of Valais and the Rhone Valley
  • Viewing platform with telescope
  • Bar and refreshment kiosk offering snacks and drinks
  • The Geology Trail (about 500 m, 30 m height difference) provides information at seven stations about glacier retreat, mountain movement, and cable car technology — also designed to be family-friendly.

Hohfluh Viewing Platform

  • Clear view of the Great Aletsch Glacier, the Rhine Valley, and many Walliser four-thousand-metre peaks
  • Observation platform with benches and information boards about the glacier region, providing panoramic views of the glacier's striking curves
  • Telescope for detailed viewing of glaciers and mountains
  • Starting point for panoramic trails towards Moosfluh and Riederfurka, perfect in good weather
