Handcrafted Cheese Making and Tasting Course in Crans Montana
Highlights
- Visit Colombire's mountain hut
- Learn how traditional cheese is made
- Participate actively in cheese production
- Taste the cheese on-site
Description
In the workshop, you will explore the art of traditional cheese making. Guided by an experienced cheesemaker, you will oversee the entire process.
It begins with warming fresh Alpine milk over a wood fire. Cutting, stirring, pressing, and sampling cheeses at different maturation stages are also part of it.
The workshop lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and offers an authentic, interactive experience with views of the Valais Alps. During breaks, you'll have the opportunity to explore the Maiensäss and the historic chalets.
Swiss Activities Tip
The "Aminona Wolf" is an attraction at the Eco Museum of the Colombire Hamlet. Here, alpine life and local wildlife are playfully and visually conveyed. The Aminona Wolf serves as a friendly mascot that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of the Alps and their stories. This is a modern presentation and not an actual animal or historical mythical creature.
