Description
You start early at Zurich main station and first travel to St. Gallen, passing through the gentle hills of eastern Switzerland. Then, the Voralpen Express takes you to Lucerne, passing lakes, fields, and typical villages.
From Lucerne, you continue with the Luzern Interlaken Express, where you will see waterfalls, meadows, and impressive mountain backdrops. The GoldenPass Express then leads you over passes, through valleys, and past vineyard terraces from Interlaken to Montreux.
Via Brig, you reach Domodossola and take the Centovalli Express through narrow gorges and small stone villages to Locarno. Finally, the fast Gotthard route takes you comfortably back to Zurich through the longest railway tunnel in the world.
This nearly complete round trip of about nine hundred kilometres is deliberately intense and aimed at true railway enthusiasts.
