Solothurn Christmas Market 2026

The Solothurner Chlausemäret takes place on 2 and 3 December in 2026, as every year on the first Wednesday and Thursday in December, 13:30–21:00 each day. Since 1981, more than 56 stalls have then stood on Friedhofplatz in the old town, and St Nicholas drops by. From 16 to 20 December the Soledurner Wiehnachtsmäret follows, with wooden huts in Kreuzackerpark on the Aare. As early as November the Capuchin monastery opens its Advent market on two weekends.

The market in the heart of the old town lasts only two afternoons and evenings. More than 56 stalls offer crafts, gifts and specialities, many from Solothurn and the surrounding area, plus mulled wine from the association's kitchen. St Nicholas drops by.

Soledurner Wiehnachtsmäret
Kreuzackerpark (Vorstadt, on the Aare)
Shortly before Christmas, wooden huts decorated for Christmas stand in Kreuzackerpark in the Vorstadt, with gift and decoration items, handicrafts and food. The organising committee runs the mulled wine houses itself, and there is also a supporting programme.

Advent im Kloster
Solothurn Capuchin monastery, indoors
An Advent market in the rooms of the Capuchin monastery: regional exhibitors show crafts and culinary specialities. On the second weekend there are different exhibitors from the first. From 8 December the Lucia lantern trail with 24 stations lights up in the monastery garden.

Wednesday and Thursday, 2 and 3 December, 13:30–21:00 each day. The association asks visitors to travel by public transport.
Wiehnachtsmäret: Sunday until 17:00
Wed–Fri from 14:00, Sat from 11:00, each until 21:00. On Sunday 20 December the market closes at 17:00.
Advent in the monastery as early as November
20–22 and 27–29 November. The corridors are narrow: pushchairs stay in the covered car park, and dogs stay outside.
Without a car
From Solothurn station it is about 5 minutes to Kreuzackerpark and about 10 minutes across the Aare to Friedhofplatz.
