Rheinfelden Christmas Market 2026

According to Tourismus Rheinfelden, Rheinfelden has no large, classic Christmas market but several smaller Advent markets. From 26 to 29 November 2026 the grounds of the Feldschlösschen brewery around the Bierschloss turn into the Winterdorf (winter village). On 12 and 13 December the WeihnachtsKreativMarkt follows, with over 90 exhibitors on the Kurbrunnen grounds. From 27 November to 3 January the old town, the Stadtpark West and the Inseli in the Rhine are lit up.

What to expect

  • Winterdorf in front of the Bierschloss

    Stalls with salt products, woodwork and beer-themed gift ideas, plus mulled beer and Schüblig sausage on the brewery grounds.

  • Crafts at the Kurbrunnen

    On 12 and 13 December over 90 exhibitors show their self-made work in the hall and outside.

  • Magic of Lights on the Rhine

    Stadtpark West, Inseli, Schifflände, Storchennestturm and Obertorturm are illuminated from 16:30, until 3 January 2027.

  • Carriage ride with brewery horses

    The Feldschlösschen horses pull the carriage through the decorated old town, with a mulled wine stop in the Stadtpark.

    For four days, decorated stalls with salt products, woodwork and beer-themed gift ideas stand on the brewery grounds around the Bierschloss. There are also mulled beer, Schüblig sausage and music, and the Brauwelt experience centre is open. In 2025 there were also carriage rides with the brewery horses.

  • WeihnachtsKreativMarkt Rheinfelden

    A craft market in Advent: more than 90 exhibitors from the surrounding area show their handmade objects in the hall and outdoor area of the Kurbrunnen. The organiser counts its KreativMarkt among the largest craft markets in north-western Switzerland.

Good to know

  • Weihnachtsfunkeln on 27 November

    From 17:00 the lights go on, and the Feldschlösschen six-horse team brings the Christmas beer to the town hall. The shops are open until 20:00.

  • Small bazaar in the Martinum

    On 5 December the traditional Advent in the Martinum offers Christmas decorations to engrave yourself, lunch, coffee and cake.

  • Winterdorf times to follow

    Feldschlösschen will publish the 2026 opening times later. In 2026 the Winterdorf starts on a Thursday for the first time.

  • Without a car

    From Rheinfelden station it is just under 10 minutes on foot to the brewery and about 5 minutes to the Kurbrunnen grounds.

Is there a classic Christmas market in Rheinfelden?
No. According to Tourismus Rheinfelden there is no large, classic Christmas market but several smaller Advent markets: the Feldschlösschen Winterdorf, the WeihnachtsKreativMarkt at the Kurbrunnen and the Advent in the Martinum.
What is the Brunnensingen (fountain singing)?
On 24 December at 23:00 and on 31 December at 21:00, twelve men dressed in black from the Sebastiani brotherhood walk through the dark old town with a lantern and sing at six fountains. The brotherhood was founded in 1541 during a plague epidemic, and the custom is one of Switzerland's living traditions.
