Lugano Christmas Market 2026

Natale in Piazza runs from 26 November 2026 to 10 January 2027. The Mercatino di Natale with more than 60 wooden huts stands until 24 December on Via Nassa, Piazzetta Maraini, Piazza Manzoni, Via Luvini and Piazza Dante, and from 26 December to 6 January still on Piazza Manzoni, Via Luvini and Piazza Dante. In 2025 it was open daily from 10:00 or 11:00; the 2026 times will follow at the beginning of November. On 26 November the Christmas tree is lit on Piazza della Riforma. New this year is the LAC Winter Village with an ice rink by the lake, from 27 November to 10 January.

Pedestrian zone in the centre: Via Nassa, Piazzetta Maraini, Piazza Manzoni, Via Luvini and Piazza Dante · more than 60 wooden huts
More than 60 wooden huts stand in the pedestrian zone, from Via Nassa via Piazza Manzoni to Piazza Dante. On offer are crafts from the region, handmade Christmas decorations and seasonal specialities. After Christmas some of the huts remain until Epiphany.
Opening hours
2025 hours – the 2026 opening hours have not been published yet · 2025 times for Piazza Manzoni; Via Nassa and Piazza Dante were open daily 10:00–18:00. Closed on 25 December, from 26 December only Piazza Manzoni, Via Luvini and Piazza Dante. The 2026 times will follow at the beginning of November.

LAC Winter Village
Piazza Luini in front of the LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura cultural centre, by the lake · since 2026
For the first time the LAC is setting up a winter village of its own: an ice rink, market stalls and a food area on Piazza Luini by the lake. Shows on the ice, workshops and readings are planned. From 24 December the building's Sala panoramica is also open during the day, and in the evening as an aperitif meeting place.

Opening on Friday 27 November, 17:30–21:00. Times on public holidays and during school holidays not yet published.

Closed on 25 December
On Christmas Day the market is closed. From 26 December the huts stand only on Piazza Manzoni, Via Luvini and Piazza Dante.
Chalets until midnight
The food chalets on Piazza della Riforma open Mon–Fri at 15:00, Sat, Sun and on public holidays at 11:00. They close at midnight, Thu–Sat at 01:00.
Ice rink from 16:30 on weekdays
The LAC Winter Village opens Mon, Tue, Thu and Fri at 16:30, Wed at 13:30, Sat and Sun at 11:00.
Without a car
From Lugano station take the funicular down to Piazza Cioccaro, then walk about 5 minutes to Piazza Manzoni.
How to get there
- From Lugano station take the funicular (Funicolare) down to Piazza Cioccaro, from there about a 5-minute walk to Piazza Manzoni. On foot from the station it takes about 10–15 minutes.
- From Lugano station about 15 minutes on foot, downhill. Alternatively take the funicular to Piazza Cioccaro and walk through Via Nassa to the LAC, about 10 minutes.
