The Weihnachts- und Christchindli-Märt Bremgarten takes place for the 31st time in 2026, from 3 to 6 December. More than 250 market stalls fill the lanes of the old town; according to the organiser, it is one of the largest Christmas markets in Switzerland. It is open on Thursday from 13:30, on Friday and Saturday from 11:00, each day until 22:00, and on Sunday from 11:00 to 18:00. There are over 40 performances at the Zeughaus, the Kellertheater and the Märt-Chile, most of them free.

What to expect

  • Opening with alphorn and cowbell ringers

    On Thursday 3 December at 13:30 on Obertorplatz, with the Alphorngruppe Reussblick and cowbell ringers from Rottenschwil.

  • Stage at the Zeughaus

    Several concerts every day, from pan flute and steel band to a cappella. Admission free, a donation is welcome.

  • Märt-Chile in the Reformed church

    Choirs, a yodel club and bands; on Sunday at 10:00 an ecumenical service with a gospel choir.

  • Children's theatre at the Kellertheater

    The Kellertheater Junior performs «D Chue Rosmarie» on Saturday and Sunday; a ticket is required.

    The stalls wind through the lanes of the old town above the Reuss, with crafts, gift ideas, mulled wine and punch. The market has a cultural programme with concerts at the Zeughaus, theatre at the Kellertheater and choirs in the Märt-Chile. It is opened with alphorn music and cowbell ringers on Obertorplatz.

    The best stops are «Bahnhof Bremgarten» and «Bremgarten Isenlauf». The «Bremgarten Obertor» stop is closed during the market.

  • Park & Ride with shuttle

    From the signposted free car parks, PostBuses run to the market every 3–5 minutes, CHF 7 return from age 16. Other car parks cost CHF 10.

  • Closes earlier on Sunday

    On Sunday 6 December the market closes at 18:00, on the other days at 22:00.
