Chaos is everywhere. In everyday life, it means disorder and lawlessness. But did you know that, for mathematicians, chaos has rules? Or that it can be fast or slow? And what do butterflies and the weather actually have to do with chaos? In this exhibition, you find out more about the Institute of Mathematics’ research into chaotic systems. It is not just theoretical. You can use a clever mathematical trick yourself to reach a straight line by unfolding a specific billiard-ball trajectory. Let the ingenious tricks of mathematics and the outstanding achievements of UZH Professor Corinna Ulcigrai inspire you. She too found inspiration in the work of various women mathematicians.
