Sobre este local

Lotte Reiniger's 1926 silhouette animation film The Adventures of Prince Achmed took three years to make and went down in film history as the first feature-length animated film: Lotte Reiniger wrote the storyboard, cut the characters and backgrounds and moved them, assisted by Alexander Kardan and Walter Türck; her husband Carl Koch was in charge of shooting and controlling the technology; Walther Ruttmann, film expressionist and director (including "Berlin, Symphony of a Great City"), designed the fantastic movements in the battle of the demons of Wak-Wak; experimental filmmaker Berthold Bartosch created the wave movements for the sea storm. If you consider that 24 individual shots are required for one second, you can appreciate the achievement behind the first full-length animated film in the history of cinema. A total of around 250,000 individual images were recorded, 100,000 of which were used for the film. Based on the "Tales of 1001 Nights", the film tells the story of a prince who rides a flying horse to distant lands, makes friends with a witch, fights demons and falls in love with a princess. Walther Giger has set this silhouette film to a new soundtrack - music for violin and harp. It is played live and accompanies the action from the first to the last image. Playing: Nicole Hitz Ruppel (violin) and Marta Ruppel (harp). Director: Lotte Reiniger (D/1926), silent movie, from 12 years, 65 min.
