Plants are all around us. They are essential to our lives. They provide us with cereals, fruit and vegetables. They supply cotton and linen for our clothes. They give us shelter and the wood from which we build our homes. They also protect our health, because many medicines are derived from plants. It is therefore no wonder that plants have also found a place in our imagination, in fairy tales, legends and epic fantasy. In this exhibition, JURASSICA invites you to discover famous fictional plants and their real-life counterparts. From the magical world of Harry Potter to Middle-earth, the Smurfs and Mario Bros. – you will see that plants often play an important role in fantasy worlds… just as they do in reality. The special exhibition is arranged in small garden sheds and extends across the different areas of the botanical garden. It takes you from the park to the greenhouses, and around the research and collection centre, revealing plants from our collections that are linked to their fictional counterparts. We wish you a magical journey of discovery at the intersection of science and fiction.
