Saut du Doubs

このスポットについて

14,000 years ago, the small Doubs river was dammed here by a landslip. Since then, the water has partly eaten its way back through the scree, and the initially flat shores of the Lac des Brenets turn towards the end of the lake into steep banks of white limestone cliffs up to 80 metres high. Thanks to its natural beauty, this long and winding lake is a popular excursion destination and in summer it is used for swimming or boat trips. Scheduled boats run regularly between the village of Les Brenets and the Saut du Doubs waterfall. The 27-metre-high waterfall can also be reached on a one-hour hike from Les Brenets. The waterfall forms the border between Switzerland and France; on both sides there are footpaths so you can choose the best spot for photos. There is a bridge only at the end of the Lac des Brenets.
