Informazioni su questo luogo

On display are projects and models, prototypes of clay elements and material samples, as well as sketches by Roger Boltshauser. Images and photographs by well-known artists such as Daniel Schwartz, Heidi Bucher, Arnulf Rainer, Sandro Livio Straube, Luca Ferrario, Niklas Eschenmoser and Philip Heckhausen complement the architectural perspective. Since the late 1990s, Boltshauser Architekten have campaigned for clay to be established as a local and climate-neutral resource, have realised a wide range of buildings from it and have pioneered innovative applications. The result is a body of work that speaks a language of resistance and, through a deliberate reduction of means, pushes back against the conventional. Today they also explore the potential of clay in combination with other building materials and thus drive its broader use. At Roger Boltshauser’s chair at ETH Zürich, experience from practice is backed up scientifically, and research findings flow back into the buildings. These feedback loops are crucial to strengthening confidence in clay and establishing it as a contemporary building material. For Boltshauser Architekten, the key question is always how architecture is created that lasts. Durability is the most important sustainability factor – beauty, atmosphere and the appreciation that follows from users are its guarantors.
