Saas-Grund is located at 1559 m above sea level and is the largest village of the Saas Valley in Valais. Saas-Grund is very popular as a hiking area all year round. In winter it is absolutely snow-sure here. A 1200 m long wellness and pleasure trail trains the senses on Kreuzboden. Ice-cold brooks want to be forded, it goes over wobbly suspension bridges and the mountain lake with the raft crossed. 240 alpine plant species are shown in the alpine flower promenade. There are also Swiss stone pines that stand above 2500 meters above sea level. The irrigation channels so typical for the Valais are called Suonen. They can be admired on hikes around Saas Grund, for example on the way to Saas Almagell. Hohsaas is reached via Kreuzboden from Saas Grund by gondola lift.
