Description
With line 323 of the Gurnigel line, you travel directly from Thurnen or Schwarzenburg into the Gantrisch Nature Park. There, you can enjoy panoramic views, numerous hiking trails, thematic routes with information on nature and history, as well as various mountain biking and cycling routes.
Further up, the journey passes through diverse natural landscapes to the Gurnigel watershed at 1608 m above sea level. From here, you can access many trails into the nature reserve, including the Gäggersteg trail, which crosses a stormwood area.
In winter, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing options are available. Along the route, inns and restaurants invite you to stop for regional specialties. The bus ride offers repeatedly stunning panoramic views of the Gantrisch range.
Between Schwarzenburg and Thurnen, the postbus takes about 1 hour and 37 minutes.

Traveling with a wheelchair
- Postbuses are generally equipped for wheelchair transport. The door suitable for wheelchair access displays the corresponding symbol.
- The postbus between Thurnen and Gurnigel has a low-floor entry. This is marked as NF on the SBB timetable.

- In that case, also book a reservation along with your ticket for your bike.
Traveling with a dog
- Small dogs up to 30 cm tall travel for free if kept in a transport container throughout the journey. The container must fit under your seat.
- Dogs without a container and all dogs over 30 cm shoulder height require a valid dog ticket: half price of second class for adults or the minimum fare (dog day pass, dog pass). They must sit under the seat to avoid blocking the aisle for other travelers.
Swiss Activities tip
From the Gantrisch hut, you can start various scenic hikes, including the Gantrisch panorama trail with breathtaking views or the Gäggersteg, a natural wooden footbridge. It crosses storm-damaged forest and shows how nature recovers after a storm. For cyclists, there are numerous mountain bike and gravel routes starting at the Gantrisch hut.
