Miglieglia

Miglieglia is located in the Malcantone region of Ticino, above the Magliasina Valley. It is surrounded by woods. On a rocky outcrop that lies above the Magliasina River, remains of a fortification have been found. They probably date back to late antiquity. The church of Santo Stefano, built in Roman style, probably dates back to the 13th century. It stands on a hill overlooking the village and contains interesting frescoes dating back to 1511. In Miglieglia there is the valley station of a cable car that goes up to Monte Lema.

“The scenery was incredible, all the train staff was extremely friendly, informative and knowledgeable. The train was comfortable, not overly crowded and a very smooth ride considering the terrain we traversed.”
