Lichtensteig is a small town in Toggenburg. It is located directly on the Thur River and has a medieval old town. The oldest houses date back to the 13th century and are partly inserted into the old town wall. The Aeuli Gorge is a popular destination for children and adults alike. Gravel banks, a waterfall, small gorges, bathing facilities and barbecue areas provide variety and recreation. The small town offers many small museums and theaters. The ruins of Neutoggenburg can be reached in a 1-hour hike.
