“Amazing experience, excellent service onboard and first class train!!”
Kandergrund
Kandergrund is situated at 800 m above sea level in the Kander valley of the Bernese Oberland. The river Kander flows through the valley. The Blausee lake on the territory of the municipality of Kandergrund is a popular destination for excursions. The Felsenburg, a medieval castle ruin, stands on a rocky spur at 1060 m above sea level above the village. Built towards the end of the 12th century, the castle controlled the access to the Gemmi Pass and the Lötschen Pass as the most important connection with the Valais until the 14th century. In the Kandergrund there are several farmhouses built in the 16th to 19th centuries, which are among the architectural monuments worthy of protection in the area.
