Gordola is located at the entrance of the Verzasca Valley and borders on Lago di Vogorno and Lago Maggiore. The village with about 4700 inhabitants is located only about 10 minutes by car from Locarno and Ascona at an altitude of 222 m above sea level. There are numerous camping facilities in the vicinity. Sights include the 220 m high Contra Dam, better known to tourists as the Verzasca Dam. For a James Bond movie the 007 agent jumped from the dam and since then many tourists come to Gordola for bunjee jumping.experiences. Also the thriller Dhoom 3 was filmed here.
