Swiss Activities Tip

If you are interested in the old cars of this small railroad, you can find one of the historic brown water ballast wooden cars in Lucerne in the transport museum. But you don't have to go to Lucerne first, there is also a brown car in Bern near the bottom station. Until 1974, the railroad was a "water ballast railroad".

At that time, a 3500 l tank under the passenger compartment was filled with water from the city stream. The upward moving carriage was pulled up by the overweight at that time. Today the streetcar runs electrically.
