Description

You rent a rubber boat for a river trip in the group. The boat is one of the most popular summer activities in Switzerland. The route from Thun to Bern is among the most well-known.

The classic route runs from Uttigen to Bern and takes about 2:30 hours. You drift along with the current and enjoy the view of meadows and mountains.

Practical information for packing:

Sunscreen: Don’t forget even on cloudy days
Drinking water: You get dehydrated more quickly on the water
Sun protection: Hat, sunglasses (secure with strap!), lightweight T-shirt
Snacks & food: Energy-rich snacks and a light picnic
Towel and change of clothes: Especially nice after the tour
Swimsuit and water shoes: Non-slip shoes make getting in and out easier
Waterproof phone case: Optional, but practical for photos on the go

Important information

Minimum age 8; all participants must be able to swim
When travelling with children, the provider recommends at least 2 adults per boat
Inflatable boat for 3 to 6 people
Start at the rental station at Uttigen railway station; the launch point below the Uttigen weir is around 150 m away (transport trolleys available on site)
The equipment must be returned to the endpoint (Camping Eichholz, Strandweg 49, 3084 Wabern bei Bern) by 18:00; take the S1 from Bern back to Uttigen (approx. 20 min.)
There are around 70 parking spaces at Uttigen railway station (CHF 5 per day)
Dogs are not allowed
