About this place

Protected by the ancestral walls of a fortified castle built in 1286 by Louis of Savoy in the “Savoy square” style – and which served as the residence of the Bernese bailiffs from 1536 to 1798 –, Château de Morges & ses musées has four permanent exhibitions. The Vaud Military Museum presents a collection of edged weapons, firearms and armour. The armoury traces 350 years of Vaud military history and its notable figures, from Major Davel to General Guisan. You can discover uniforms from the Vaud militias, plus numerous objects and uniforms relating to Swiss regiments in various foreign services. The castle also houses the collections of the Musée de l’artillerie – forty guns and scale models of Swiss artillery –, the Swiss Museum of Historical Figurines – 10,000 figurines from the Raoul Gérard collection in nearly 50 dioramas –, as well as the Musée de la Gendarmerie vaudoise from its creation to the present day.
