A seamless travel experience The GoldenPass Express offers a seamless and even more comfortable travel experience on one of Switzerland’s most beautiful rail routes. This panoramic train runs between Interlaken and Montreux up to four times a day and gives you uninterrupted views of the breathtaking panorama. The GoldenPass Express is not only a world first, but also a Swiss masterpiece. The idea of linking Interlaken and Montreux without changing trains began more than 100 years ago. But the plan failed because of the different track gauges on the respective sections. Now, this seemingly impossible challenge has been solved by a brilliant invention: a variable-gauge bogie. A journey worth taking. It is a pity it lasts only 3 hours 15 minutes, because you could enjoy this beautiful view forever. World-famous places, three regions The ride on the GoldenPass Express is like a journey across Switzerland. The route starts in picturesque Interlaken and takes you via Gstaad, Château-d’Oex and Montbovon to Montreux, the end of the journey. Of course, you can also start your journey in Montreux. Interlaken is the starting point for many leisure activities and delights with a unique view of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The elegant resort of Gstaad with its smart chalets is not only popular with winter sports fans; stars also like to stay here. In Château-d’Oex, with a bit of luck, you may see a hot-air balloon take off, while Montreux is home to the annual Montreux Jazz Festival. Cuisine For the perfect start, you can pre-order local and international delicacies. How about a glass of champagne and a portion of the finest caviar from Frutigen, for example? Champagne and caviar are served exclusively in «Prestige», while on all classes of travel you can also enjoy a selection of dishes from the small but excellent bistro menu. Prestige travel class In addition to the 1st- and 2nd-class carriages, the two «Prestige» compartments offer unrivalled comfort for the 3:15-hour journey. This exclusive travel class gives you everything you would expect from an unforgettable train journey: plenty of privacy, maximum comfort in a small compartment and an exceptional culinary offering. In «Prestige», you can settle back on the luxurious heated leather seats. On request, they can even be turned 180 degrees. The seats are also raised by 40 cm compared with the other travel classes, giving you an even better view of the fascinating landscape and allowing you to immerse yourself fully in it. For 1st and 2nd class, reservation is strongly recommended in addition to a valid ticket for the selected travel class. A surcharge applies to all reservations.
