House of Museums

About this place

The House of Museums (local museum) is run by the Heimat- und Kulturverein. It documents the history of the municipality, in particular the impact of the routes over the Lötschen and Gemmi passes, as well as railway construction and tourism. Trade, crafts and sport naturally also have their place here. Former Federal Councillor Adolf Ogi and the presence of the UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch. The "Scout Museum" exhibition is set up; Lord Baden Powell laid the foundation stone for the Intern. Pfadfinderzentrum Kandersteg. In the same building is the Seilbahn Museum Schweiz. SPECIAL EXHIBITION: Edi Schild, cross-country skiing pioneer at the 1948 Olympics and the creation of the cross-country trails in Kandersteg, open from the end of December 2024 until Easter 2025.
