Pichoux Gorge
About this place
In fact, this gorge, formed by the Sorne in the canton of Jura, has an impressive number of springs, from which water from the limestone rock bursts out on rainy days. The « Gorges du Pichoux » lies on the road between Bellelay and Undervelier and stands out for its mysterious-looking beauty. In this imposing gorge, the water of the Sorne rushes along, confined between almost vertical rock walls. Also worth seeing is the Lac Vert, which lies at the very back of the gorge. As its name suggests, its surface shines in shades of green. It is an ideal place for a picnic in the middle of a wonderful natural setting, which has even made it into the Federal Inventory of Landscapes and Natural Monuments of National Importance. And if the gorge seems familiar: it served as a filming location for the Swiss TV series « Wilder ». Getting there: by public transport or by car to Sornetan, Le Pichoux. Free parking is available.
