About this place
The Musée du Vieux Monthey explores local history, in particular the beginnings of industrialisation. Housed in the château du Vieux-Monthey, dating from 1410, the exhibits include furniture and a rich iconographic record of Monthey and of the town’s industry and crafts (glassworks, sugar factory, tobacco manufactory…). Local history, that of the district of Monthey and that relating to the independence of Lower Valais are extensively documented.
