If you explore Schynige Platte in the heart of the Jungfrau Region with the historic cogwheel railway, you feel transported back to the Belle Époque. The wooden benches of the nostalgic train and the rolling stock from the 19th century give off an old-time charm and bring long-gone days back to life. From Wilderswil, it takes just under an hour to reach the viewpoint mountain Schynige Platte. Along the way, forests, alpine meadows and the grand views of Thunersee and Brienzersee impress. And that is not all: as you gain altitude, a breathtaking panoramic view opens up of the gleaming white trio of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The mountain station at 1'967 metres above sea level is the starting point for lovely circular hikes. The botanical alpine garden with its 800 plant species is also here. Alphorn players, an alpine playground and a room with a starry sky offer further summit attractions.
